Mark your calendars!
#GivingTuesday is December 3, 2024.
#GivingTuesday is on the way! It is a great time to support The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence – Greater Detroit Area, which supports families and communities with co-occuring mental health , and substance use disorders through prevention, treatment, and recovery services in the Metropolitan Detroit area.
The fight against substance abuse is URGENT. From 2011 to 2021, drug overdose deaths in Michigan and in the US have more than doubled. Across the US, opioid overdoses accounted for 75% of drug overdose deaths in 2021, compared to 48% in 2000. Right now, the threat of substance use disorder is tearing through our communities. We see children as young as 8 years old overdosing on marijuana edibles and nicotine vapes. The opioid crisis is ripping through the very fabric of our family structure. Dangerous misinformation and easy access to substances make it even more difficult for our youth to stay safe and drug-free. We MUST protect and guide our youth against the dangers of substance use.
The board of directors and staff of the NCADD is committed to the prevention of substance use disorder and to Recovery with Dignity to those who are afflicted. Utilizing evidence-based practices and interventions we provide treatment and prevention services to thousands of people annually. We work tirelessly with individuals, families, youth and adults to help them enjoy a life free from alcohol and other drugs.
